Chavez hit .276 with 23 RBIs in 80 games with the Mariners last season. Once a Gold Glove center fielder with Seattle, Gutierrez was limited to 41 games in 2013, when he was slowed by hamstring injuries.
SEATTLE (AP) – Washington has dismissed center Robert Upshaw, the national leader in blocked shots, from its program for a violation of team rules. Washington coach Lorenzo Romar announced the dismissal Monday afternoon. No other details were given by the school.
NEW YORK (AP) – The NBA has postponed home games for both the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets because of a snowstorm expected to batter the area. The Nets were scheduled to face the Portland Trail Blazers. The game was rescheduled for Monday, April 6.
