EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A University of Oregon student is in a hospital with a potentially life-threatening bacterial infection that causes meningitis. KVAL reports that the university has notified students who had a class with the woman and Lane County Public Health is alerting about 800 people who may have had contact with her.

BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) – Twelve people were injured when more than a dozen tractor-trailers crashed on an icy road in eastern Oregon. None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening. Highway officials say they have partially reopened Interstate 84 after the Saturday wreck closed more than 160 miles of eastbound lanes.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Hundreds of people attended an anti-abortion rally yesterday in Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square. The Oregonian reports the rally organized by Oregon Right to Life reflected the city’s hipster vibe, featuring a speaker with a punk rock sensibility. Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon said protesters should work with the organization to increase access to affordable birth control and comprehensive sex education.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Two weather records got busted in Portland this weekend. Portland set a new rainfall mark when 1.8 inches fell Saturday, beating the 1.76 inches of rain that fell on the date in 1976. And the 59-degree high temperature on Saturday matched the record set in 1975.
