SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A man convicted of planting a bomb that killed two Oregon police officers in 2008 is seeking to have the state Supreme Court overturn his death sentence. Attorneys for Bruce Turnidge say there’s no evidence that Turnidge or his son, Joshua, “personally” set off the blast. No hearing has yet been scheduled in Joshua Turnidge’s case.

GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) – Three teenage girls were hit by a car yesterday evening near Centennial High School in Gresham. KOIN reports they were not seriously hurt but they were taken to a hospital. The driver stopped and cooperated with police. A 14-year-old boy was hit in the same crosswalk on Wednesday and suffered a broken knee and elbow.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) – The owners of a Springfield plywood mill say they plan to rebuild after a spectacular fire there last July. The Register-Guard reports that Swanson Group Manufacturing says it hopes to begin construction this summer and be ready to open by mid-2016. The new mill will employ up to 190 people.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – The Obama administration has told 41 states how much money they are losing after Congress ended subsidies to counties that contain national forest land. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says the U.S. Forest Service is distributing more than $50 million to 746 timber counties nationwide – compared to about $300 million during the final year of the Secure Rural Schools subsidies program.
