Kitzhaber’s office has said little about why he forced Mater out.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police and school officials swung into action when a neighbor reported hearing loud popping sounds near a Portland-area high school that was the scene of a fatal shooting last June. GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – The Obama administration has told 41 states how much money they are losing after Congress ended subsidies to counties that contain national forest land. The U.S. Forest Service is distributing more than $50 million to 746 timber counties nationwide – compared to about $300 million during the final year of the Secure Rural Schools subsidies program.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The parents of a boy with cerebral palsy seek $36 million in a lawsuit against an Oregon hospital system, alleging it misrepresented the risks of a water birth.
