Beavers Take Down the Wildcats

The home win streak increased to ten last night for the Beavers at Gill Coliseum and the Oregon State men pulled off their first win over a top 10 team since March of 2000 with a 58-56 upset over Arizona. Langston Morris-Walker made a go-ahead layup with 26 seconds left to give the Beavers the lead. He was the Beaver’s top scorer with 12 points and eight rebounds.

Ducks hold off Sun Devils

Saturday afternoon in Eugene, Joseph Young scored 16 points and Elgin Cook hit a pair of clinching free throws with 9.3 seconds remaining to lift Oregon to a 59-56 victory over Arizona State.

Beavers Sweep Civil War Weekend

For the women… Number 11 Oregon State swept Oregon in a pair of Civil War basketball games over the weekend… Ruth Hamblin scored 23 points leading the Beavers to a 77-48 win last night in Eugene. Friday night in Corvallis, Oregon State held Oregon to their lowest Civil War point total in history with a 70-37 win in Corvallis.

It’s Go-Time for the Ducks at National Championship

And finally… it’s national championship day for football. The college football season comes to a close this evening in Arlington, Texas. Kickoff is just after 5:30… the Duck pregame show on KCST begins at 3:30.

Turning to prep basketball…

The Alsea Wolverines battled from a nine-point deficit at half time to take a 58-52 Mountain West League win Friday night over the Mapleton Sailors. Tucker Ford had his second double-double of the week for Mapleton with 28 points and ten rebounds. The sailors are at home tomorrow night against Eddyville Charter.

The Siuslaw Vikings came away from the Sky-West Crossover with a split… losing Friday afternoon 45-39 to Henley, then avenging a December loss to the Phoenix Pirates; winning 52-38 Saturday morning. The Viking girls had a pair of losses… falling 63-24 Friday to Klamath Union, then Saturday 51-38 to Hidden Valley.
