Burkhalter has hot night in Coos Bay

Viking wrestler Isaiah Burkhalter had a dominating night on the mats last night in Coos Bay. The 138-pounder won all three matches at a Far West Quad by pin. His longest latest 53 seconds; his shortest ended in 14-seconds. Kainan Lane only wrestled one match last night and came away a winner at 285.

Siuslaw will be in Independence; noon tomorrow for the Central High School Four-Way that also includes Banks and Amity.

Prep basketball…

Destinie Tatum had ten points and ten rebounds for the Lady Vikings, but Siuslaw fell to Junction City at home 47-33 in a non-league girls game last night in Florence. They’ll be at Hidden Valley High school today and tomorrow for the Sky-West Crossover. The Viking Boys will be at South Umpqua for their portion of the crossover.

 On the court tonight:

The Mapleton Sailors will be in Alsea to take on the Wolverines. That game will air on Coast Radio Sports at 6:45… with the tipoff at seven.

On the college court…

Oregon State stretched their string of wins at Gill Coliseum last night to nine with a 55-47 win over Arizona State. It was the first conference win of the year for the Beavers; the first ever for head coach Wayne Tinkle. Oregon State’s home streak will be seriously tested Sunday evening when they host number seven Arizona at seven PM… that game will air on KCFM.

All five Wildcat starters scored in double-digits last night as Arizona downed the Oregon Ducks 80-62 in Eugene. Oregon will host Arizona State tomorrow afternoon at two… the pregame show on KCST is set for 1:30.
