MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A southern Oregon man accused of using not one but two fake $50 bills in an attempt to pay for an order of potato wedges has been indicted on forgery and related counts. The Mail Tribune reports that 29-year-old Juvenal Vega of Medford is accused of trying to use the bogus bills in early December at Angelo’s Pizza.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A woman who says she was sexually assaulted by three University of Oregon basketball players is suing the school and head basketball coach Dana Altman. The suit alleges Altman knew when he recruited Brandon Austin that the player had been suspended from the Providence College basketball team due to allegations of sexual misconduct. The players told police the sex was consensual, and prosecutors say there was insufficient evidence to file charges.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Nuts, beer, cheese and lasagna are up for grabs in the friendly wager between the governors of Oregon and Ohio, whose flagship universities compete in the college football championship next week. The Ohio State Buckeyes face the Oregon Ducks on Monday.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police say a 911 caller reported an incendiary device had been thrown into a home with two children inside. When police, firefighters and bomb squad members raced to the scene yesterday, they found something quite different. Apparently a family dog had chewed on the TV remote control and damaged one of the lithium batteries, which started to smoke. Police says the kids in the home ran out and told other children and someone called 911.
