CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – Panthers coach Ron Rivera says starting defensive tackle Star Lotulelei will miss Saturday night’s divisional playoff game against Seattle with a broken bone in his foot. Rivera says Wednesday he expects veteran Colin Cole will start alongside Kawann Short.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – There was Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott, racing down the sideline with several Alabama players in hot pursuit, a close-up of his face showing his eyes glancing up at the huge video board above the end zone. Elliott was gauging how much of a gap he had on potential tacklers even as he carried the Buckeyes’ hopes right into the national championship game against Oregon.

UNDATED (AP) – The Portland Trail Blazers host the Miami Heat tonight at the Moda Center. The Trail Blazers are coming off a 98-94 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. Portland has won 5 of their last 6 games.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Blake Griffin scored 27 points, Chris Paul had 24 points and Matt Barnes added 19 in helping the Los Angeles Clippers rout the Lakers 114-89 last night for their ninth win in 10 games against the 16-time NBA champions. Griffin just missed a triple-double, with nine rebounds and eight assists. DeAndre Jordan had 10 points and 13 rebounds, and J.J. Redick added 10 points as all five starters reached double figures.
