FLORENCE, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say a body discovered on a Lane County beach is that of a Washington state man reported missing Dec. 16. The police say foul play is not suspected in the death of 27-year-old Bryan McKinney of Wenatchee. Troopers say the body washed onto Baker Beach north of Florence, and a walker found it. He was identified through dental records.

BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) – Baker City officials say they’ve got a parasite-killer in place to ensure against a repeat of the intestinal sickness that affected up to a tenth of the town in 2013. The Baker City Herald reports a $3 million water treatment plant that uses ultraviolet light against the parasite called cryptosporidium has successfully gone through a 30-day shakedown period. The ultraviolet light alters the organism’s genetic makeup so it can’t reproduce.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – A 10-year-old Hillsboro boy is sore but has no lasting injuries from falling from a chairlift at Mount Bachelor. Tyler Russell told KTVZ he was trying to adjust his snowboard Saturday when he slipped. He dangled by one hand and called for help before he fell about 20 feet, landing on his back on the snowboard.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon cat that accidentally got sold with a mattress set is home after 10 days on his own. People were on the lookout for the cat named Camo after his unusual disappearance. The man says Camo lost 2 pounds and suffered some minor injuries.
