Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The heavy rain is causing problems on coastal roads. The Oregon Department of Transportation says Highway 101 near Heceta Head will remain closed indefinitely to pedestrians, bicyclists and all but emergency vehicles. The agency says the roadway has been damaged by rains, a landslide and a failing retaining wall. ODOT says that section of highway might partially reopen today.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police arrested a man accused of throwing four pipe bombs out his car window as he fled from an officer in Portland. Sgt. Pete Simpson says 43-year-old Neal Panschow was arrested yesterday afternoon after police got a tip he was in northeast Portland. The pipe bombs tossed during Tuesday’s chase did not detonate.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A bedbug infestation at the Eugene Public Library appears to have been contained. The Register-Guard newspaper reports two dogs were sent to the library Saturday night to search for the pests. A library spokeswoman says no bedbugs were found. Officials were first alerted to the outbreak in early December when a patron discovered a bedbug on an upholstered chair.

RENO, Nev. (AP) – An Oregon man admits he was driving too fast on a rural highway in Nevada, but he says the state’s wheels of justice turn too slowly, and his wallet is a grand lighter because of it. Robert Larsen of Eugene says he ended up paying more than $1,000 in legal fees to settle a $500 fine and bench warrant for his arrest even though he paid the $57 speeding ticket in 2009.
