PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service investigator says it was a pesticide that killed more than two dozen crows in downtown Portland, but it’s not know if the birds were intentionally poisoned. The Oregonian reports that the federal agency is continuing to investigate the deaths of the birds found in three downtown parks on Nov. 26.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A 16-year-old is the third person arrested in a shooting outside an alternative high school in Portland that left four young people injured. Police say the teen was arrested following a chase late Tuesday in Marion County. The shooting appears to be related to gang activity, and the Police Bureau’s gang squad is handling the investigation.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – An Idaho fugitive shot and wounded by officers after a pursuit last March in southern Oregon has been sentenced to 5 ½ years in prison. Prosecutors say 29-year-old Wayne Pearson pleaded no contest to multiple charges, including attempted assault, attempting to elude and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Mason County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested the son of an 81-year-old man found dead after a fire in a Willamette Valley duplex. Candido Duran died in the fire early yesterday in Jefferson, about 10 miles northwest of Albany. His 36-year-old Son John Duran was arrested last night. he also lived in the duplex.
