PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A federal court hearing will take place next week on Portland’s efforts to stop the ride-hailing service Uber from operating in the city. The Oregonian reports that Portland is seeking nearly $68,000 in fines. Uber spokeswoman Eva Behrend has said the company will continue to operate in Portland.

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) – A high school ski coach won’t be allowed to drive the team bus while State Police review a Nov. 22 crash in Bend. Crooks County High coach Russell Johnson was behind the wheel when the bus skidded on slush, ran off the road and rolled twice. The Bend Bulletin reports one student was treated for a minor injury.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Department of Transportation says four stretches of road that had higher-than-average crash rates have seen big improvements in safety. ODOT has removed “safety corridor” status from the four highways, including a stretch of Oregon 99E from Woodburn to Salem. Six other safety corridors remain.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Damian Lillard had 23 points and a career-high 10 rebounds last night as the Portland Trail Blazers downed the short-handed San Antonio Spurs 108-95. Starting center Robin Lopez injured his right hand early in the second half and did not return.
