SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Ognjen Miljkovic scored 20 points and Eastern Washington knocked off San Francisco 81-76 yesterday. Venky Jois’ three-point play with 2:56 gave Eastern a 70-67 lead, Parker Kelly’s trey extended the lead to six, and the Eagles made 8 of 10 free throws down the stretch to ice it. Eastern Washington extends its record to 8-1, its best start in 38 years.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) – Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota has won the Maxwell Award, given to the nation’s outstanding player. Mariota was presented with the prize last night during the 24th College Football Awards Show at Disney. Mariota was chosen over Maxwell finalists Melvin Gordon of Wisconsin and Dak Prescott of Mississippi State.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) – Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota won the Walter Camp player of the year award last night. Mariota is the first Oregon player to win the award. The junior is a Heisman Trophy finalist and the front-runner to win that award Saturday night in New York.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) – New Nebraska football coach Mike Riley is bringing four of his Oregon State assistants with him to Lincoln. Riley said that defensive assistants Mark Banker and Trent Bray, offensive assistant Mike Cavanaugh and special teams coach Bruce Read will be on his staff. The rest of his staff will be announced later.
