MERLIN, Ore. (AP) – Josephine County deputies say a 53-year-old
woman has been found shot to in the driveway of her home at Merlin
and her 63-year-old husband was found dead inside with a gunshot
wound to his head. The sheriff’s office is not calling the deaths a
murder-suicide but detectives do not believe the community is at
risk.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A woman who had sex with a Multnomah
County sheriff’s deputy is suing the county for as much as
$360,000. In the suit the woman says she requires counseling.
Although she wasn’t physically forced to have sex she says the
contact was not consensual because the deputy had the authority to
send her to jail. The Oregonian reports 40-year-old Deputy Adam
Levin pleaded guilty in February to custodial sexual misconduct and
served more than three weeks in jail. He has resigned.

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) – A Portland police officer has been
arrested by Vancouver, Wash., police for investigation of three
felony crimes. Portland police said last night that officer James
Botaitis was arrested yesterday afternoon and booked into the Clark
County Jail in Vancouver. The 10-year Portland department veteran
was one of two officers named in a 2009 lawsuit filed by a
then-47-year-old woman whose arm was broken after police put her in
a control hold as her minivan was being towed.

DEPOE BAY, Ore. (AP) – A 45-year-old Depoe Bay man called 911
last night and to report he’d accidentally shot his wife in the
head. Deputies say she also told emergency responders the shooting
was an accident. She was flown to Legacy Emmanuel Medical Center in
Portland with a wound from a small caliber bullet. The sheriff’s
office says the man was intoxicated at the time.
