NEW YORK (AP) – LaMarcus Aldridge scored 24 points and the Portland Trail Blazers overcame blowing a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter to beat the New York Knicks 103-99 last night for their fourth straight victory. The Trail Blazers have won five straight games over New York. Wesley Matthews had 17 points for the Trail Blazers.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Russell Wilson threw two touchdown passes, ran for another score and the Seattle Seahawks stifled Philadelphia’s high-powered offense in a 24-14 victory over the Eagles yesterday. Wilson had 263 yards passing and ran for 48 to help the Seahawks win their third straight game. The Seahawks held the Eagles to 139 total yards.

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) – Jameis (JAYM’-ihs) Winston won the last Heisman Trophy. It looks as if Marcus Mariota (mar-ee-OH’-tah) is going to win the award this year. And on New Year’s Day, the two most decorated quarterbacks in college football will go head-to-head in the Granddaddy of Them All. Defending national champion Florida State will face West Coast king Oregon in the 101st edition of the Rose Bowl.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) – Oklahoma State will face Washington in the Cactus Bowl. Oklahoma State needed to win its final game to become eligible after losing five straight. The Cowboys did it in dramatic fashion, beating rival Oklahoma 38-35 in overtime after Tyreek Hill returned a punt 92 yards for a touchdown with 45 seconds left in regulation. The Cactus Bowl is Jan. 2 at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe.
