EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Both sides in a graduate teaching assistants’ strike at the University of Oregon have agreed to meet at the invitation of a state mediator. The Register-Guard reports that the mediator has called for a meeting tomorrow of teaching assistant bargaining team members and university bargainers. The teaching assistants walked out yesterday after contract talks stalled over medical and maternity leave benefits.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – A Portland doctor with a Christian mission group is heading to West Africa to help Ebola-stricken patients and others seeking medical help. It’s the first trip Dr. Dan Crawford has made to treat Ebola patients in Africa. By the end of this week, the 64-year-old Crawford and another doctor will head to the Liberian capital of Monrovia to help Ebola-stricken patients and others seeking medical help.

DENVER (AP) – LaMarcus Aldridge scored a season-high 39 points and set up the winning basket, helping the Portland Trail Blazers rally for a 105-103 win over the Denver Nuggets last night. Aldridge received an in-bounds pass and dished it to Robin Lopez, who sealed off J.J. Hickson with his hip for an easy layup.
