PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A woman and a man who say they were sexually abused as children by a leader in a suburban Portland Jehovah’s Witnesses congregation have filed suit, seeking $10.5 million. The Oregonian reports that lawyers for the two filed suit Monday in Multnomah County Circuit Court. The suit says that a man who held the equivalent position of a baptized ordained minister in the North Hillsboro Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses molested the plaintiffs in the mid-1980s.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say a man who was struck and killed on I-205 in Portland last night may have been panhandling along an on-ramp. Police say the man was struck while trying to cross the southbound lanes. He had been seen earlier in the northbound lanes and may have been panhandling on the ramp from NE Sandy Boulevard.

BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) – State Police say the driver of a commercial truck has been killed in an accident on icy Interstate 84 in eastern Oregon near the Idaho border. Troopers say it appears the driver of a big rig lost control of the westbound vehicle on a curve late yesterday afternoon, then slid off the road into the median, went over an embankment and into a guardrail.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A Lane County Jail inmate in Eugene is accused of injuring four deputies. The Register-Guard reports that 52-year-old Harry Brown of Eugene was arrested Friday for investigation of second-degree criminal trespass. Deputies said he became agitated the next day and was escorted to an area away from the jail’s main holding room. The four deputies were hurt while trying to subdue him there.
