KENT, Wash. (AP) – Jarell Flora scored 16 points and Seattle routed Pacific Lutheran 72-33 yesterday. Pacific Lutheran, a Division III member, led once at 4-2. Isiah Umipig hit a 3-pointer on the next possession and PLU never challenged again. Umipig hit another trey with 7:51 in the half and Seattle led 43-21 at intermission.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – Ty Lawson had 15 points and made a double-pump jumper to beat the shot clock with 29.6 seconds left that boosted the Denver Nuggets over the Utah Jazz 103-101 in a charged atmosphere last night. The game heated up after Arron Afflalo was ejected and the Jazz stormed back from a 22-point deficit to tie the game in the final minutes. Lawson, who also had 12 assists, made the game-winner from the left wing between two Jazz defenders.

SEATTLE (AP) – Two people with knowledge of the deal say the Mariners and free agent slugger Nelson Cruz are nearing agreement on a contact that would give Seattle the right-handed bat it has sought. The people spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because the deal between Cruz and the Mariners had not been finalized and was pending a physical. Seattle did not comment.

UNDATED (AP) – The Vancouver Canucks travel to Washington, D.C., to face off against the Washington Capitals tonight at 5. The Canucks are coming off a 5-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings.
