PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The National Weather Service says a cold front is expected to bring colder temperatures and increasing rain to northwest Oregon today and tomorrow. There’s a chance for a mixture of rain and snow at low elevations in the Willamette Valley on Saturday, but forecasters say any flakes would be unlikely to stick to roads that have been warming for days.

COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) – After being delayed the last two years, Oregon’s commercial crab fishing season is set to open on time this year. Oregon Dungeness Crab Commission Director Hugh Link tells the Coos Bay World that Oregon crab could begin showing up in stores by the middle to end of next week. The season is set to open Dec. 1.

CLACKAMAS, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police have identified the man who died after he was run over Wednesday evening by the rear wheels of a TriMet transit bus. The Oregonian reports 60-year-old Elias French fell after approaching the bus as it was pulling away. The driver has been placed on administrative leave.

CANNON BEACH, Ore. (AP) – A 2-year-old Belgian Malinois was supposed to be the ninth member of the police force in the Oregon coastal town of Cannon Beach, but “Cash” just didn’t have what it takes. Cash was skittish, afraid of heights and had a barking problem. He was returned to his original owner, and the Cannon Beach Police Department is searching for a replacement.
