Michigan holds off Oregon in Brooklyn

The Wolverines used an 8-oh-run midway through the second half to snap a tie game and #19 Michigan held off Oregon 70-63 last night in Brooklyn at the Legends Classic. Joseph Young had 20 points for the Ducks who will take on VCU this afternoon at 4:30 in Brooklyn. Airtime on Coast Radio Sports is at four.

Cowboys stop Beavers in Vegas

Oklahoma State smothered Oregon State in the second half in Las Vegas last night. The Cowboys went on to a 66-53 victory in the opening game of the MGM Grand Main Event tournament. Victor Robbins scored 16 points for the Beavers in their first loss of the season. The Beavers will face Auburn tomorrow at six in the closing game of the tournament.

Lineman powers his way to Athlete of the Week

Mapleton football standout Chet Geddes is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the week. The junior lineman earned all Mountain West League first team honors on the offensive line; he received second team recognition on the defensive line.

Honorable Mention is given to Sailor defensive back Chris Free who earned first team honors from Mountain West League coaches at that position as well as 2nd team honors at receiver.

Other Mapleton Sailors earning recognition from league coaches:  Tucker Ford, Honorable Mention at quarterback; and Hunter Simington third team as an offensive utility player.
