SEATTLE (AP) – Russell Wilson found backup tight end Cooper Helfet for a 20-yard catch-and-run touchdown late in the third quarter, Steven Hauschka kicked four field goals and the Seattle Seahawks handed the Arizona Cardinals their second loss of the season, 19-3 yesterday. Wilson was sacked a season-high seven times. The victory was a must for Seattle if it had any hopes of getting back into the division race.

BOSTON (AP) – LaMarcus Aldridge had 20 points and 14 rebounds, reserve Chris Kaman scored 16 points and the Portland Trail Blazers extended their winning streak to seven games with a 94-88 victory over the Boston Celtics last night. Damian Lillard added 12 points and five assists for Portland, which began a brief East swing. Nicolas Batum also had 12 points.

SEATTLE (AP) – Shawn Kemp Jr. scored 18 points and the Washington Huskies used a balanced attack to hold off Pacific for a 76-69 victory in the first game of the Marv Harshman Classic at Key Arena last night. Kemp made seven of 11 from the floor and all four of his free throws. Nigel Williams-Goss and Andrew Andrews each added 17 points.

CARSON, Calif. (AP) – Marcelo Sarvas scored in the 52nd minute, and the LA Galaxy opened the Western Conference championship with a 1-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders yesterday. Jaime Penedo posted his third straight shutout for the Galaxy, who still haven’t conceded a playoff goal this season. The clubs play their second leg Nov. 30 on Seattle’s artificial turf.
