PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – Rain moving into the Northwest is falling as freezing rain in the Columbia River Gorge and other parts of eastern Oregon and Washington. There temperatures have been below freezing for more than a week. A freezing rain advisory is posted this morning for the Gorge and Hood River Valley. Forecasters said the freezing rain will turn to just rain by this afternoon.

CORNELIUS, Ore. (AP) – A woman in a Portland suburb has been ordered to give up her rooster after a neighbor complained about the crowing. Megan Keller of Cornelius has been fighting for months to keep the pet she named Mr. Rooster. KPTV reports that a judge has told her to find a new home for the bird within a week. She could also be facing some hefty fines.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – To mark what would have been the 30th birthday of Brittany Maynard, a right-to-die advocacy group has issued new video footage of the terminally ill woman three weeks after her death. In the video, recorded in August, Maynard calls on more states to enact legislation allowing terminally ill people to end life on their own terms.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon cities say they’ll try to get the Legislature next year to allow them to tax marijuana once it’s legal in the state. At least 70 cities have passed ordinances to tax pot. Earlier this month, Oregon voters legalized it, beginning next year. The Oregonian reports the League of Oregon cities will ask legislators to amend that initiated measure to allow local taxes.
