PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Organizers of Portland’s Hempstalk Festival have been told they can’t hold the 2015 event on city property. The city parks bureau rejected Hempstalk’s request for the use of Waterfront Park, saying organizers have been unable to properly manage the gathering. A lawyer representing the organizers told The Oregonian she will appeal the city’s denial of a permit. Oregonians recently approved the recreational use of marijuana. But even after pot becomes legal in July, public consumption won’t be allowed.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – The man sought in the death of a woman in Southern Oregon has been taken into custody after deputies found him hiding in the attic of the house where the woman was found dead. A Jackson County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said 42-year-old Wade Phillips surrendered without a struggle. There was no further word on a child in the home escaping injury.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police say a large tree fell during heavy wind, striking a cyclist and damaging an occupied car. The tree fell yesterday during the onset of a severe weather system in northwest Oregon. Police say the cyclist’s injuries were not life-threatening. Occupants of the vehicle were not injured by the falling tree.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon drivers are benefiting from the nation’s largest monthly drop in gas prices. A spokeswoman for AAA Oregon/Idaho said the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in Oregon is $3.07 – down 47 cents from a month ago. The decline has been fueled by a drop in crude oil prices.
