Chris Bacon named Athlete of the Week
Siuslaw football standout Chris Bacon is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week. The senior lineman played a key role on both sides of the ball, earning 1st team All Far West League honors for his play on offense; honorable mention for his defense.
Senior Center Kasey Ryan earns Honorable Mention for his play at that position that also earned him 2nd team All Far West League honors.
Far West Football Awards Announced
North Bend quarterback Cameron Lucero was selected by Far West League coaches as the Most Valuable Player on offense; the defensive honor was split between North Bend Defensive Back Drew Matthews and Marshfield Linebacker Lance Grigsby.
Three Siuslaw Vikings made the first team; Billy Jones as a running back; Maverick Michael at Linebacker; and Chris Bacon on the offensive line. Bacon also earned honorable mention for his work on the defensive line.
2nd Team honors included quarterback Joe Dotson, center Kasey Ryan and wide receiver Scott Gordon on offense; Simon Gonzales on the D-line and Keoni Castro as a linebacker. Kenneth Thrall picked up a double 2nd team recognition as place kicker and punter. Michael Mason also picked up honorable mention on the Offensive line.
