UNDATED (AP) – Forecasters say Arctic air blowing into the Northwest today will drop temperatures below freezing in many locations. That sets up a chance of snow tomorrow and Thursday in the Columbia River Gorge and Hood River Valley, and possibly across the Portland-Vancouver area. Forecasters expect 3-to-6 inches of snow in the Bend area tomorrow and Thursday.

SILVERTON, Ore. (AP) — The Marion County sheriff’s office says a man who walked into traffic last night was struck by a vehicle and killed in Silverton. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

NEWPORT, Ore. (AP) – The woman accused of throwing her 6-year-old autistic son off a bridge on the Oregon Coast has yet to enter a plea. Defense attorneys have indicated they want the court to determine if Jillian McCabe is fit to stand trial. An uncle has said she received psychiatric treatment for emotional distress from years of caring for the child, and more recently for her disabled husband.

SAN DIEGO (AP) – A real estate developer and mortgage broker from Oregon who took part in a $50 million securities scam has been sentenced to federal prison. A judge in San Diego sentenced Bradley Holcom of Canby yesterday to 10 years in prison. He pleaded guilty in July to wire fraud. Prosecutors say Holcom bilked investors around the country who provided money for development deals.
