Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

SEATTLE (AP) – Arctic air pushing into the Northwest tomorrow and Wednesday is expected to bring the first hard freeze of the season in much of Washington and Oregon, with snow in places later in the week. Forecasters say temperatures will drop into the 20s and 30s west of the Cascades and teens east of the Cascades. Gusty east winds will lower the wind chill and make it feet even colder.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – A man involved in a Grants Pass domestic violence complaint drove off yesterday afternoon before police arrived and died in a crash. State Police say shortly after troopers had been dispatched to the domestic violence report they were notified the man drove away and crashed into a tree. Police say 59-year-old Donald Phillips died at the scene.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – The former co-owner of a Bend gymnastics academy has been found guilty of sexually abusing his former students. The Bend Bulletin reports 49-year-old Richard Gustafson was found guilty Friday of 11 counts of first-degree sexual abuse, 20 counts of first-degree encouraging child sexual abuse and one count of possession of cocaine. Sentencing is scheduled for Thursday.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – The homeless tent camp in Eugene known as Whoville is back up, but in a different spot. The Register-Guard reports about 15 homeless people have set up on city-owned land next to a downtown street. The camp was dismantled by police in April. It had been home to as many as 50 residents. Homeless people say there isn’t enough temporary housing to house them all.
