PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A man charged with killing his girlfriend in Washington state, posting pictures of her body online has surrendered in Oregon. Police say 33-year-old David Kalac was arrested last night at a transit center in Wilsonville, south of Portland. He’s charged with second-degree murder in Tuesday’s slaying of Amber Coplin in Port Orchard.

COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) – A Bureau of Land Management employee was killed by a falling tree at a logging site east of Coos Bay. The Coos County Sheriff’s office says 55-year-old Estella Morgan was in an SUV when a tree that had just been cut fell on it Tuesday, crushing the vehicle. She died at the scene. The accident is under investigation.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police say a 30-year-old woman with mental health issues was struck by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 26 after jumping from a second-story balcony and running into the roadway. Police say the woman was taken to a Portland hospital early yesterday for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and a mental health evaluation.

WALLA WALLA, Wash. (AP) – Banner Bank is taking over Spokane-based American West Bank in a $702 million deal that will expand the Walla Walla bank to 190 branches in five states, including Oregon. Banner president and CEO Mark Grescovich told The Spokesman-Review they will continue to cater to midsize businesses, farms and manufacturing companies.
