PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon voters have legalized marijuana, but a bill to label genetically engineered food was too close to call. Proposals seeking open primaries and issuing drivers cards for unauthorized immigrants failed, as did a ballot measure that would have allowed the state to take on debt for student financial aid. After a measure was approved to amend the state constitution, Oregon judges will now be able to serve in the National Guard.

SEATTLE (AP) – High winds today and tomorrow on the Northwest coast and some inland areas of Oregon may be strong enough to bring down tree limbs and knock out power. Forecasters expect winds of around 30 mph with gusts to 45 on the coast. It also will be windy in the northwest Oregon area including Portland. The weather should calm down Friday and Saturday with a drier skies and a chance of sunshine.

LAKEVIEW, Ore. (AP) – A moderate earthquake hit northwest Nevada late last night, but there were no reports of damage. The USGS says the magnitude-4.9 temblor about 11:30 p.m. was centered 41 miles east-southeast of Lakeview, Oregon. Four people reported feeling it.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Portland Fire Bureau says two people escaped their burning house early today thanks to smoke alarms. LT. Damon Simmons tells The Oregonian the two-story home was fully involved in flames when firefighters arrived. Firefighters had to deal with a downed power line in the front yard and fire burning in spaces inside the walls.
