VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) – A 7-year-old girl who was hit by a car while trick-or-treating on Halloween in Vancouver has died at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland. The Columbian reports Candace Boyer was walking with her mother and others when they were hit by a car that went onto a sidewalk. The mother was listed in fair condition, while another woman and a 6-year-old girl were critically injured. Police suspect the driver was drunk and speeding.

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) – A Clark County jury has found former Beaverton police officer guilty of raping a 5-year-old girl with a pencil last year. The Columbian reports Christopher Warren showed no emotion Friday during the reading of the verdict on a charge of first-degree rape. Jurors reached the unanimous verdict after 6½ hours of deliberation.

DETROIT (AP) – Pierce Manufacturing is recalling 135 fire trucks in the U.S. because a suspension part can fail and cause a wheel to fall off. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began investigating the Pierce Arrow trucks in March after getting reports of a wheel falling off two aerial ladder trucks that were responding to emergency calls, one of them in Portland.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Klay Thompson scored 29 points, including a go-ahead jumper with 8.7 seconds left, and the Golden State Warriors defeated the Trail Blazers 95-90 last night. LaMarcus Aldridge had 26 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Blazers, who dropped to 1-2 to start the season.
