OSAA Cross Country Finals Set

For the last decade and a half, Chris Johnson has been coaching someone running at the OSAA State Cross Country Meet. Most of the times it has been both the boys and girls teams from Siuslaw. He’s at it again tomorrow and will be encouraging 14 runners at Lane Community College in Eugene.

Chris Johnson – “You know there’s no time outs, it’s a whole lot of pressure, but it’s what we try to prepare for, starting a long long time ago for some of these people.”

His two top runners… Seth Campbell won the individual boys’ Far West title; Celie Mans the girls’. They are the mainstays tomorrow… each with a very good chance to finish in the top five.

Chris Johnson – “It’s a matter of how they execute their game plan and how tough they can be, and competitive and smart. I wouldn’t trade those two for anybody else in the state, that’s for sure.”

Both teams have very good prospects; although Johnson admits the boys team from Valley Catholic and the girls team from Phoenix are the favorites.

The girls final is set for 11:10 tomorrow… the boys race at 11:50.
