Florence police are looking for the whereabouts of a “short, heavy set” person, approximately 40 to 50 years old, wearing a light gray zippered hoody sweatshirt.  The sweatshirt may have white writing on it.  “We believe it’s a woman”, said Florence Police Lt. John Pitcher who added that there was no weapon observed.

That person, about 5′ 4″, robbed robbed the Safeway Branch of Oregon Pacific Bank this afternoon, about 1:45, handing a note demanding money across the counter.

It’s not clear what direction the person went after leaving the store, but Pitcher says police think a “bright green Ford Explorer” may be involved; although, he stressed, that’s not certain.

An “undisclosed amount of cash” was taken.

Police are seeking the person described above.  If you encounter someone matching that description, it’s suggested that you call 911.
