LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) – A rare tornado has ripped roofs off several buildings, uprooted trees and shattered windows in the southwest Washington city of Longview, but there were no reports of injuries. A meteorologist says a National Weather Service storm survey team from nearby Portland, Oregon, estimates the tornado carved more than a mile-long path and packed winds of 86 to 110 mph.

NORTH BEND, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Transportation Department says U.S. Highway 101 at the McCullough Bridge in North Bend will remain closed until at least this afternoon. The World newspaper reports that high winds broke loose a bolted-down construction project enclosure covering the bridge, causing debris to fall into the roadway. A detour is available for most traffic.

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police are trying to find two men accused of robbing an Idaho motorist who stopped to inspect his car along Interstate 84 east of Pendleton. Police say a 34-year-old Boise man told them the two men were in a maroon 1990s Ford Mustang with California plates. The victim reported suffering minor injuries.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say a man found dead along railroad tracks on Portland’s lower east side was a 32-year-old truck driver from Everett, Washington. The man whose body was found Tuesday was identified as Arthur Wynn. Investigators believe Wynn was struck and killed by a passing train.
