RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks are attempting to regroup after a tumultuous week that saw the trade of receiver Percy Harvin to the New York Jets, and a second straight loss for their first two-game losing streak since 2012. The Seahawks sputtered early against St. Louis on Sunday, falling behind 21-3 to the Rams after the first half. Seattle rallied to within two points but couldn’t complete the comeback, losing to St. Louis 28-26, and falling to 3-3.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) – San Francisco 49ers center Daniel Kilgore is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery on Tuesday. Kilgore fractured his left ankle in the third quarter of Sunday night’s 42-17 loss at Denver. Rookie Marcus Martin is the favorite to fill in for Kilgore.

HELENA, Mont. (AP) – Montana is ranked seventh by the media and sixth by the coaches after beating UC Davis last weekend. Montana State is ranked 10th by the media and 11th by the coaches after a big win over Weber State. Eastern Washington is ranked second in both The Sports Network and the coaches’ polls, behind three-time defending national champion North Dakota State.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – Jeff Kellogg will be the umpire crew chief for the World Series, and four other umps have been picked to work the event for the first time. Major League Baseball announced the crew Monday, a day before San Francisco and Kansas City meet in Game 1.
