PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A man has been stabbed to death in downtown Portland near City Hall. Police tell KOIN that Federal Protective Service officers found the man early this morning on the sidewalk. The man, who appeared to be in his 30s or 40s, was dead by the time medics arrived.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say a man sought as a suspect in the stabbing death of his aunt has now been charged with bank robbery in Monday’s holdup of a Chase Bank branch in Canby. The FBI says it’s offering a reward up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Teddy Stivahtis. Police in Gresham say Stivahtis is a suspect in the Oct. 10 death of Deanna Stivahtis.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) – A man described by his lawyer as a homeless Army veteran has been sentenced in Springfield to the maximum six months for kicking his black Labrador puppy so hard he broke the dog’s leg. The Register-Guard reports that John Repich surrendered ownership of the dog yesterday after pleading guilty to misdemeanor second-degree animal abuse. An animal control officer says the dog named Tao is expected to make a full recovery and will be put up for adoption.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The National Weather Service says winds that reached about 40 mph damaged trees and fences in the Willamette Valley community of Woodburn. The Oregonian reports that forecasters say the worst of the storm hit early yesterday afternoon. Today’s outlook is mostly dry.
