PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Wesley Matthews scored 22 points, Portland was 17 of 25 from 3-point range and the Trail Blazers beat the Los Angeles Clippers 119-114 in an exhibition game last night. Matthews made 6 of 7 3-point attempts to lead Portland to its first preseason win in three games. C.J. McCullum made five 3-pointers and scored 19 points.

FRISCO, Texas (AP) – Fabian Castillo scored in the winner in 88th minute and FC Dallas clinched a playoff berth, beating the Los Angeles Galaxy 2-1 last night. The Galaxy missed an opportunity to move ahead of the Western Conference rival Seattle Sounders for the MLS top spot. The clubs will finish the season with a home-and-home series to determine the Supporters’ Shield winner.

SEATTLE (AP) – DeMarco Murray ran for a 15-yard touchdown with 3:16 left and became the second running back in NFL history with six straight 100-yard games to start the season as the Dallas Cowboys stunned the Seattle Seahawks 30-23 yesterday. Dallas overcame a pair of special teams turnovers and became the first team outside the NFC West to win in Seattle since 2011.

SEATTLE (AP) – Starting Seattle cornerback Byron Maxwell injured his ankle breaking up a pass intended for Dallas wide receiver Dez Bryant. Maxwell was down on the field for a few minutes yesterday before walking to the sideline with a slight limp. His lower right leg was looked at on the bench before Maxwell was taken to the locker room on a cart. The team says his return is questionable.
