Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – With ballots set to start arriving in the mail, voters will soon decide whether to add an equal rights amendment to the Oregon Constitution. The American Civil Liberties Union is one group that disagrees with the measure. It says the Oregon Constitution already has language that protects women from gender-based discrimination and “symbolic” amendments should not be added.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A railroad says it has increased the number of oil trains per week moving through Central Oregon. The records, released by the state, show BNSF Railway ran up to three oil trains weekly through Deschutes, Jefferson, Klamath, and Wasco counties. The company previously reported moving only one oil train a week through Central Oregon.

CENTRAL POINT, Ore. (AP) – Ranchers in eastern Oregon say they want to have more precise information on the location of wolves, which has conservation groups worried about the increased threat of poaching. The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission in Central Point already tracks and shares the location of GPS-collared wolves with livestock producers. However, ranchers say they need the wolves’ pinpoint location to better protect livestock, chase wolves out of the pasture, and find dead or injured cows quickly.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -A small portion of a federal judge’s ruling in Idaho against the U.S. Bureau of Land Management concerning grazing permits in sage grouse habitat is being eyed as a potential lever by environmental groups considering similar lawsuits in other states. The judge ruled the BLM incorrectly used a congressional budget rider to issue grazing permits with no environmental analysis.
