Hayes says she did not tell the governor about the marriage until a reporter from the Willamette Week newspaper began asking questions this week.

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) – The city of Prineville has agreed to pay the police chief it fired in July $666,000 to settle his lawsuit. KTVZ-TV reports that Eric Bush’s attorney says it’s the maximum amount state law allows a local government such as Prineville to pay. Bush alleged he was fired because he took leave to serve in the Oregon Army National Guard.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Weather Service says dangerous sneaker waves are possible this weekend on the coast of Oregon and southwest Washington. Waves as high as 18 feet could unexpectedly reach farther up the beach than expected or knock people off jetties and rocks. The Weather Service says people at the beach shouldn’t turn their back on the surf.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Utah Jazz beat Portland 109-105 last night for their second straight preseason victory over the Trail Blazers. LaMarcus Aldridge had 22 points and six rebounds in about 24 minutes for Portland. Blazers guard Damian Lillard sat out because of an ankle strain.
