EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – The University of Oregon has set up a $15,000 emergency fund to pay for sex assault prevention and support for victims. The Register-Guard reports interim president Scott Coltrane is sending an email to all university employees that details their reporting responsibilities under federal civil rights law.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Corvallis police say two juveniles who had been smoking marijuana in a park have been charged for what prosecutors say were their roles in starting a Sept. 5 fire that burned 86 acres of land. The Corvallis Gazette-Times says police say as the two walked out of Chip Ross Park, one dared the other to light some dry grass on fire with a lighter. They tried but failed to douse the fire, and one of them called 911.

OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – Clackamas County has agreed to pay $700,000 to settle a wrongful death claim filed by the widow of a slain county weighmaster. In her original tort claim, Tedra Waxenfelter, widow of Grady Waxenfelter, had asked for $2.75 million in damages. The Oregonian reports the county also must pay a $2,100 fine. The weighmaster was fatally shot on Feb. 6 when he pulled over a truck to check its load. The killer is still at large.

ST. HELENS, Ore. (AP) – The Columbia County sheriff’s office says a missing bow hunter has been found dead. Deputies say a family friend helping in the search located the body of Jon Hill of Hillsboro late yesterday more than a mile from where his pickup truck was found on Sunday. There was no immediate word on a cause of death.
