Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

TORONTO (AP) – Dalton Pompey hit his first major league homer and the Toronto Blue Jays roughed up Felix Hernandez for a career worst-tying eight earned runs in a 10-2 victory over the Mariners that further dented Seattle’s fading wild-card chances. Seattle lost its fourth straight. The Mariners fell three games out of the second AL wild-card spot with five games remaining.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Justin Turner homered twice and Matt Kemp had a two-run shot in a testy first inning, helping the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the second-place San Francisco Giants 4-2 to stretch their NL West lead to 4 1/2 games last night. The Giants’ seventh loss in 10 games kept them from clinching a playoff berth after Milwaukee lost at Cincinnati.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Norberto Paparatto scored twice and the Portland Timbers defeated Alpha United 6-0 in a CONCACAF Champions League match last night. Gaston Fernandez, Jack Jewsbury, Michael Nanchoff and Fanendo Adi also scored for the Timbers, who are making their first appearance in the premier club tournament for the North and Central American and Caribbean region. Portland qualified as Major League Soccer’s Western Conference champion last year.

UNDATED (AP) – Sue Bird became the first American player to make four world championship teams when USA Basketball announced the roster yesterday. Bird won gold medals in 2002 and 2010 and a bronze medal in 2006. Joining her on the final roster are veterans Diana Taurasi, Candice Dupree, Tina Charles, Angel McCoughtry, Maya Moore, Lindsay Whalen and Seimone Augustus.
