ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) – The Los Angeles Angels clinched the AL West title last night, getting seven dominant innings of one-hit ball from C.J. Wilson in a 5-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners. C.J. Cron hit a three-run homer for the major league-leading Angels (95-57), who wrapped up their first division crown since 2009 when Oakland lost to Texas about an hour after Los Angeles’ game ended.

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) – Washington State’s football team will play six home games in 2015, including four against Pac-12 opponents. The 2015 season will open Sept. 5 against Portland State. The following week, Sept. 12, WSU travels east for a return engagement against Rutgers, this year’s opening opponent. The Cougars close out the nonconference schedule Sept. 19 against Wyoming in Martin Stadium.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – Former University of Oregon tight end Colt Lyerla has pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence of drugs. The Oregonian newspaper reports the 21-year-old is scheduled to return to court next month. Lyerla left the Ducks in October 2013, shortly after he was suspended for violating team rules.

BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) – Nike has suspended its sponsorship deal with Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson following child abuse allegations. The Beaverton-based shoemaker issued a statement that said Nike in no way condones child abuse or domestic violence of any kind. The move comes the same day that the Vikings took Peterson off the team’s active roster while he deals with a felony child-abuse charge in Texas.
