PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Health officials in Oregon’s Lincoln County say they found no trace of E. coli bacteria in a county restaurant as they investigate two cases of E. coli infection, including one that killed a 4-year-old girl. Relatives said the girl and a young friend shared a turkey sandwich at the restaurant over the Labor Day weekend. Officials have said they don’t expect to be able to determine exactly what made the children sick.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Republican U.S. Senate candidate Monica Wehby is blaming former staff members for policy briefs on her website that matched statements from other conservative candidates and an interest group. Wehby’s campaign took down the entire issues section of her website on yesterday. Wehby issued a statement saying pages on her website were written by staff that are no longer employed by the campaign.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon State Police spokesman says the Linn County Major Crime Team is investigating after a body was found on Truax Island east of Corvallis. A spokesman says the person’s gender is not being released yet. The identity has not been confirmed.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Jack Russell terrier that went missing from its Pennsylvania home has turned up at an animal shelter nearly 3,000 miles away. The Bonnie Hays Animal Shelter says a good Samaritan found the 7-year-old dog named Gidget this month in Tualatin, Oregon. A shelter spokeswoman says it’s a mystery how the dog ended up in Oregon.
