SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Two of the plaintiffs who filed a lawsuit that led to Oregon allowing same-sex marriage are throwing their support behind Republican Senate candidate Monica Wehby. The ad does not specifically mention gay marriage but shows photos of Ben West and Paul Rummell’s wedding. Democrats released a statement from six other plaintiffs in the case backing Democratic Sen. Jeff Merkley.

FLORENCE, Ore. (AP) – State Police say an 81-year-old property owner fired his shotgun twice at an aluminum drift boat that two Siuslaw River boaters had pulled from the river at his dock after they experienced boat trouble. Troopers arrested Elden Nordahl for investigation of menacing, reckless endangering, unlawful use of a weapon and pointing a firearm at a person.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A grand jury has indicted a man accused of causing an explosion in a Tigard parking lot by attempting to concentrate marijuana into hash oil. The indictment accuses Dale Corzine of Irvine, California, of creating a substantial risk of harm to human life. The July 29 blast and fire at a TriMet park-and-ride destroyed his car, another vehicle and damaged three others.

NEW YORK (AP) – Nike has severed its business ties to Ray Rice a day after he was let go by the Baltimore Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the NFL following the release of a video showing him striking his then-fiancee in February. Nike Inc. said yesterday that Rice is no longer among the athletes it is working with.
