Northwest League Baseball Season Ending

The Eugene Emeralds broke a three game losing streak last night with a 4-2 victory over the Vancouver Canadians. The final home game of the season is this evening at PK Park for the Ems as they host the Canucks one last time.

The Emeralds will be in Hillsboro tomorrow for the first of their three final games against the Hops.

On the cusp of college football

It’s college football weekend in Oregon. Oregon State will host Portland State tomorrow at Reser Stadium. The one o’clock kickoff will be followed by a pregame show on KCFM set for noon.

The South Dakota Coyotes come calling on the number three Oregon Ducks at 7:30 tomorrow night. Airtime on 106.9 KCST is at six.

New skipper for Viking Volleyball ship

A new, but familiar face has taken the helm of the Viking Volleyball ship. Angie Herring was named the head coach for the Siuslaw program this week. The former coach, Amy Peterson, accepted a teaching position in Marion County last week, leaving the team without a head coach in the middle of fall practices.

Assistant coaches and volunteers stepped in to fill the gap until a permanent replacement could be named. Herring has previously served as a paid and volunteer assistant. She is a graduate of Northwest Nazarene where she played volleyball four years. The Vikings start the season one week from tomorrow at the Reedsport Invitational.

Blue and Gold football scrimmage

Don’t forget the Siuslaw Blue and Gold football Scrimmage at Hans Peterson Field this evening… seven pm.
