SEATTLE (AP) – Rougned Odor hit a third-inning grand slam to back Colby Lewis, and the last-place Texas Rangers beat Seattle 12-4 yesterday to take two of three from the Mariners. Erasmo Ramirez (1-6), recalled from Triple-A Tacoma for the start, allowed 10 runs and nine hits in three-plus innings. Seattle had been the only major league team not to allow 10 or more runs in a game this season.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll says he’s disappointed his team has been docked two practices next offseason for excessive physical contact in a minicamp in June. Seattle will be docked the first two days of its 2015 mandatory minicamp and will be permitted one 2 1/2-hour practice on the final day.

SEATTLE (AP) – Rutgers’ debut as a member of the Big Ten Conference will likely be Washington State’s farewell to Seattle. The Cougars open the season with their annual game at Seattle’s CenturyLink Field tonight, hosting the Scarlet Knights. For Washington State, this could be its final “home” game in Seattle. The new Pac-12 television contract boosted the finances of every school in the conference and athletic director Bill Moos wants to bring all Cougars games back to Pullman, Washington.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Defending champion Suzann Pettersen looks to make tournament history as the headliner in the LPGA Portland Classic starting today at Columbia-Edgewater Country Club. The 33-year-old Norwegian hopes to join Nancy Lopez as the tournament’s only three-time champion. The Portland Classic is the longest-running non-major tournament on the LPGA Tour.
