JACKSON, Miss. They were arrested Tuesday night after a tip led police to a shopping mall in Portland.

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) – A Vancouver judge has imposed an exceptional 30-year sentence on a Portland man, saying he showed no remorse for beating and raping a former girlfriend. The Columbian reports that Charles Paschal was sentenced yesterday after the judge said she had planned to stay within the standard range but changed her mind after Paschal addressed the court.

ALBANY, Ore. (AP) – Linn County deputies say detectives arrested a 47-year-old man after discovering a marijuana growing operation on private timberland owned by Weyerhaeuser. The sheriff says nearly 2,000 marijuana plants were seized from three different growing plots, and the operation damaged land and streams near the community of Lacomb. Louis Alfonso Arellano-Arellano was booked into jail on drug charges.

BUFFALO, N.Y.
