SEATTLE (AP) – Kendrys Morales hit a two-run home run in the first inning and starter Hisashi Iwakuma pitched into the seventh to help the Seattle Mariners beat the Toronto Blue Jays 2-0 last night, completing a sweep of the three-game series. Morales’ homer was his second in three at-bats, a span that started Tuesday night.

TUKWILA, Wash. (AP) – Andy Rose and Kenny Cooper each scored two goals and the Seattle Sounders routed the Chicago Fire 6-0 in their U.S. Open Cup semifinal last night. Major League Soccer-leading Seattle will face the Philadelphia Union on Sept. 16 in the final in Chester, Pennsylvania. Seattle reached the final for the fifth time since joining MLS in 2009.

BELLEVUE, Wash. (AP) – Police have cleared Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch in an assault and property damage case. The Bellevue Police Department issued a statement late last night saying Lynch wasn’t involved and that the case remained open. The police department expressed appreciation for cooperation from Lynch and the Seahawks.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Seattle Seahawks rookie defensive end Cassius Marsh will undergo an MRI after appearing to suffer a knee injury in practice. Marsh was hurt after getting tangled in a pile during yesterday’s practice, the final one before Seattle broke training camp. The Seahawks have a light practice today before tomorrow night’s second preseason game against San Diego.
