The Eugene Emeralds scored nine runs on 15 hits Friday night to even a three game series with the Hops in Hillsboro at one apiece; winning 9-3. Things were closer in the deciding game Saturday, but seven early runs for Eugene held up as they came out on top 7-6.

Yesterday was a new day, new series and a whole new ball game as the Hawks demolished the Emeralds 17-3 in Boise. Game two of the three game series is this evening.

Fall Football Camps Under Way

The 19^th annual Siuslaw Football Camp gets (got) under way this afternoon at the high school. Beginners’ camp, for first through fourth graders will run from 1:30 to 2:30 through Thursday. Youth camp for fifth through 8^th graders is from three to five. Then, the Frosh/Soph and varsity conditioning camps will be conducted from six to eight.

Varsity coach Tim Dodson says there is no cost to participants. He credits a grant from the Florence Kiwanis Club for underwriting all the costs.
