SEATTLE (AP) – Austin Jackson matched a career-high with four RBIs to lead the Seattle Mariners to a 4-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox yesterday afternoon. Jackson joined the Mariners in a trade from Detroit just before the deadline. Logan Morrison began a two-out rally for Seattle in the second inning off Chicago’s John Danks with a hard line drive single off the wall in right field.

SEATTLE (AP) – The Seattle Mariners recalled right-hander Erasmo Ramirez from Triple-A Tacoma to start yesterday against the Chicago White Sox. He was pulled mid-batter in the fifth inning as Dominic Leone entered to face Gordon Beckham with a 2-1 count. Leone got Beckham to ground into a double play to end the inning.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Pete Carroll had to settle for the Seattle Seahawks’ preseason opener being the first chance to start making evaluations. Seattle was called for 13 penalties and its offense struggled at times in a 21-16 loss to Denver on Thursday night.

SEATTLE (AP) – Sue Bird scored 22 points and Camille Little added 16 to help the Seattle Storm rally from a 13-point second-half deficit and beat the Tulsa Shock 74-68. The win puts Seattle in a tie with Tulsa for fifth, two games behind San Antonio for the fourth and final playoff spot.

SEATTLE (AP) – Marco Pappa scored in the 69th minute and Gonzalo Pineda converted a penalty kick 6 minutes later as the Seattle Sounders snapped a two-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo. It was the 200th MLS coaching victory for Seattle’s Sigi Schmid.
