PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Landon Donovan scored the go-ahead goal in a 2-1 victory over German power Bayern Munich last night in the Major League Soccer All-Star game. Making his record 14th All-Star appearance, Donovan dribbled the ball to the top of the box before blasting it past German World Cup goalkeeper Manuel Neuer in the 70th minute.

SEATTLE (AP) – The Seattle Mariners handed Atlanta its eighth straight loss, with Dustin Ackley and Logan Morrison hitting home runs in the third inning that sent the Mariners to a 7-3 win yesterday. The Braves were swept at Dodger Stadium and San Diego before losing two straight at Safeco Field. Chris Young (10-6) allowed three runs in five innings.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll wouldn’t give specifics but he said his starters would play some in tonight’s preseason opener against Denver. Carroll said after a walkthrough practice Wednesday that he wants his starters to get a little time but the bulk of the game will be played by younger players. Carroll specifically said rookie linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis (oblique) will not play.

SEATTLE (AP) – Washington quarterback Cyler Miles has apologized for his involvement in an off-field incident after the Super Bowl that led to his suspension for the Huskies’ season opener at Hawaii. Miles was investigated for his role in a Super Bowl night fight that included former teammate Damore’ea Stringfellow, who was dismissed from the program. Miles was suspended for spring practice. He was reinstated to the team after not being charged by prosecutors.
