BALTIMORE (AP) – Chris Tillman pitched seven innings of three-hit ball in a duel with Hisashi Iwakuma, Nick Markakis hit his first career leadoff homer and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Seattle Mariners 1-0 yesterday for their fourth straight series win. Tillman (8-5) struck out six and walked none to earn his first win since June 27. A second-round draft pick by Seattle in 2006, Tillman is 6-0 in six career starts against the Mariners.

SEATTLE (AP) – Chris Petersen can’t wait to see quarterback Cyler Miles take his first snaps in fall camp, even if Miles will be a spectator when Washington opens its season Aug. 30 at Hawaii. Petersen spoke yesterday about the start of his first fall camp at Washington after spending the previous eight seasons as the head coach at Boise State. Miles’ situation has drawn the most attention since Petersen’s arrival. Miles was the presumptive replacement for Keith Price, who finished his career as one of the top passers in Washington history.

SEATTLE (AP) – Crystal Langhorne scored 15 of her 19 points in the second half to help the Seattle Storm snap a seven-game losing streak with a 71-65 win over the San Antonio Stars last night. Langhorne scored seven and Sue Bird added five in the final three minutes of the game after the Stars had rallied from an 18-point first-half deficit to take a 59-57 lead. Langhorne also had 10 rebounds.

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) – Brock Mackenzie won the ATB Financial Classic yesterday at Sirocco Golf Club at 27-under 261, the second-best score in relation to par in PGA Tour Canada history. Mackenzie, the 33-year-old former University of Washington player from Yakima, Washington, had rounds of 65, 63, 67 and 66 for a four-stroke victory over Joel Dahmen and Stephen Carney. Brian Unk set the tour record of 28 under in the 2009 Seaforth Country Classic.
